Search dogs give a victim's friends and family more hope that the lost person will be discovered. However, unrealistic expectations of a search dog's ability are not uncommon. This includes members of law enforcement and the media. That's why it's important for a base commander or law enforcement to deal with the public, so search dog teams can do their job.
